Sith Physical Training
Sith Physical Training
The physical training of the body is very important to a Sith, it helps with discipline, focus, and control. Skills with hand to hand combat as well as weaponry skills are not only welcomed but encouraged among the ranks of the Sith.
Although we do stress and promote Acerbus Volo we do also believe that training in multiple forms of martial arts is good for the body, mind, and soul. By limiting ourselves to one fighting style we make it easier for our opponents.
The Sith Martial Art of Acerbus Volo (Quick, Dark Movements)
Acerbus Volo literally translate to Quick, Dark Movements and is focused on exactly that. Training in this Sith art is not required but obviously promoted by the Order. This fighting style focuses on quick movements that are well calculated and precise. By relying on your senses as well as your connection with the force you can anticipate your opponents move and defend it, striking quickly before they have time to react, both in hand to hand and swordsmanship.
Acerbus Volo Hand to Hand
By maintaining your center of balance before and after every move you make yourself a formidable opponent and sought after ally. Your basic fighting stance should be low and slightly crouched, angled to your opponent with your dominant foot foward. Remember your feet need be wide but not to wide to throw of balance. weight on your back foot keep your arms bent and your hands where your chest and stomach meet. In this position you can strike quickly and regain your control quickly. It also puts you in prime position for a powerful punch to the face or neck. Being low to the ground it allows you to duck in order to evade a leaping attack or with the pent up power in your bent knees to jump over a low swipe.
Acerbus Volo Swordsmanship
Position #1
Maintaining the same basic body position as the hand to hand combat this time with your arms over your furthest shoulder holding with two hands your sword. With your knees slightly lessed bent then the hand to hand you can move fluently, keeping your legs mobile to move around. From the up position of your sword you have a single powerful swipe before you are vulnerable so timing is everything. When you choose to take your swing spin your body around quickly and regain your position, do not attempt to pull your sword back in the up position as is. This will result in critical down time for your movement. When swinging from the up position swipe at an angle for the most strength.
Position #2
With this fighting position you keep your weight on your back foot and still facing your opponent sideways strong foot forward. Keep your arms extended in front of you with your sword firm in both hands with the blad tip facing up. This is more of a defensive stance but still can result in a marvelous attack. Remain alert, letting the force guide you anticipate but do not act to soon. Always keep your face to your opponent and strike in quick movements after thier attack and before they have time to set in a defensive position. With a combination of position #1 and #2 you can become a very talented swordsman.
Position #3 (Acerbus Volo Proficio)
This position is made for those who have mastered the basics of the Sith Martial Art. In this position you maintain a wide stance with slightly bent knees. Your powerful dominant hand holding your sword and your lesser hand held at your waist. In this position your are able to swing fluently both to defend and attack. When in attack be mindfull of your opponent, spin to avoid a swing from your opponent as well as swinging your own blade at the same time. This keeps you always in attack while defending at the same time. In advanced stages of training in the Order your second hand may be used as a tool to project the force.
